On Monday 27th October 2025, members of the MCJ Casings team attended the prestigious UK Sausage Week Awards Luncheon at Butchers’ Hall, London, to celebrate the very best in British sausage-making and to present the coveted Best Cumberland Sausage Award.
Representing MCJ Casings on the day were Director Jay Tierney and Production Manager Kyle Tierney, who both had the honour of stepping forward to open the all-important gold envelope and reveal the winner.
The Winner
Exceptional by ASDA – 6 Cumberland Pork Sausages (Finnebrogue)
A huge congratulations to the team at Finnebrogue, whose product impressed the judges in what is always one of the most competitive categories of the competition.

A Proud Moment for MCJ Casings
Speaking after the event, Jay Tierney said:
“It was fantastic to be involved in the Awards. By partnering with the organisers, we even had the opportunity to present one of the awards — a real privilege! We met sausage makers, industry champions, nominees and category winners, and of course, we got to taste some of the best sausages in the country.
“It was brilliant to see so many of our customers shortlisted and proud to showcase the quality of the sausages they produce using our casings. When we looked at the finalists’ list, we realised that MCJ Casings customers were represented in every single category, and three went on to win overall! The whole MCJ team was delighted to see this.”
Congratulations to Our Winning Customers
We’d like to extend a massive congratulations to all of our customers who were shortlisted — and especially those who went on to win their categories.
The entire MCJ Casings team is incredibly proud to see so many of our customers recognised for their craftsmanship and quality. For those who didn’t win this year — there’s always next time, and we can’t wait to see what you create!
Celebrating UK Sausage Week 2025
Of course, UK Sausage Week is about more than just the awards — it’s about celebrating Britain’s butchers, sausage makers and food producers who champion this great British staple.
We were thrilled to see the entire butchery industry embrace the week, promoting sausages with new flavours, special offers, and creative campaigns across retail and social media. From 27th October to 2nd November 2025, butchers and retailers nationwide proudly showcased their sausage-making skills, and we couldn’t be prouder of our customers’ efforts.
Spotlight on Our Local Customers
From Liverpool to London, our customers pulled out all the stops for Sausage Week:
Bexley’s Craft Butchers created limited-edition sausage flavours, including Hot Honey, and offered exciting in-store promotions.
“We’re thrilled to have been a part of UK Sausage Week again this year,” said Mike Hooker from Bexley’s.
“It’s a great excuse to get creative with flavours and give our customers something new to try — like our new ‘Hot Honey’ sausage, which has already been a hit in tastings!”
“We ran special offers, including buy two packs and get a one-free deals, and had some surprise flavours. It’s all about celebrating great British butchery and encouraging customers to support their local shops.”
“Sausage Week always brings a buzz to our counters — we love seeing regulars (and new faces!) getting excited about something we make fresh every day.”
Meanwhile, Red Bank Farm Shop in Newton-le-Willows ran a special home-reared Pork & Sausage Hamper Giveaway to engage their customers.
Nicola Porter from Red Bank Farm Shop said:
“We’re proud to take part in UK Sausage Week and to fly the flag for local food and farming. Our butchers work hard to create high-quality sausages using meat from our own farm, hand prepared with fresh ingredients, so this week is a brilliant way to celebrate what we do.”
“To get our customers involved, we ran a special home-reared Pork and Sausage hamper giveaway where one lucky customer would win a luxury meat hamper packed with our best pork cuts and, of course, some of our signature sausages.”
“We have over 70 different flavours of sausages that we produce, we always mix it up and have different flavour sausages on offer every week. For sausage week we’ve even developed some limited-edition Halloween flavours— it was always going to be a fun week!”
Looking Ahead
This was the first year MCJ Casings have been closely involved in the UK Sausage Week event and luncheon — and it may not be the last.
We we’re proud to support an event that celebrates quality, innovation and community across the butchery industry. Congratulations once again to all the winners, finalists and organisers for making UK Sausage Week 2025 such a success for us all!
